Find a different way to cope

There are so many different ways to deal with stress. You don't have to resort to hurting yourself to try and express your feelings. Try writing a diary or journal in order to get your emotions out there. Sports and other recreational activities are also a good way to get rid of pent up rage. Talking to someone also helps, good friends are almost always willing to listen. Kids Help Phone (1-800-668-6868)  is always open and there to listen.

  1. Hmmm... Great blog. But I think we, as a society, should focus more (not completely, but at least some emphasis) on preventing self-harm in the VERY first place. That is, depession and negative outlooks on life on the whole. I realize that depression may be heriditary and such, but much could be because children are sucked into the "life is hard" ideal way too early. And these methods, if you think about it, are very unconventional. Cutting your wrists? Barbaric, no? I think we should incorporate such teachings and ideals (practical ones preferably... not a "life is just daisies" one) into our education system and, most important, media.
What do you think; what should emphasis be put on, preventing depresion (generally), preventing self harm (specifically) or advertising help lines and centres?

  2. Hi, thanks for the comment! I believe that there should be something put in place to prevent self harm. It really depends on how the person feels about themselves. People harm themselves because it's the last resort, so, why does it have to be a resort at all?
